Call me stupid, but I can't get the mx-800 to PROPERLY learn a code. It learns it and it works when tested but wont download into the remote or wont work in a macro. I have 'saved' it and it shows as a learned code on the page. I have also deleted any other codes associated with the buttons. Any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated.

Is the problem with all devices and buttons or just certain ones? When you download to the remote and try it, does the "sending" indicator on the remote flash?

OK Here's the deal. My laptop w/ a usb to serial will learn the codes but not allow them to be downloaded to the remote or used in a macro. They just dont show up. The buttons remain empty. But it works like a charm when done on my desktop. The problem must be within the usb/serial adapter. Anyone else experience this? What brand adapter do you use? I surely can't be the only one using a laptop.
Thanks.

I am not using a laptop, but my HTPC doesnt have any legacy ports, so I am using a USB to Serial adaptor, and mine works great. Its a Belkin F5U109 (Labeled as a PDA adaptor) but works fine for me. Tried it first because it was half the price of the one labeled USB to Serial, and looked identical. Picked it up at Office Max

Belkin and Keyspan are the recommended USB-to-serial adapters for use with MXEditor.
