Hi all I have emailed URC about this problem and am awaiting a reply. I was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem or knows what might cause it.
I purchased a MX-500 10 mths ago from BlueDo. It has developed a strange problem with the LCD display which began after I changed batteries. I have changed batteries once before and that time I noticed it took a couple of minutes for the remote to become operational. Anyway, when I changed batteries the other day the screen was blank and took sometime to come up (30 minutes or so) When the screen did come up it came up with garbage characters that came and went until eventually a screen came up saying TEST
LCD ! RAM IROUT IRAMP LIGHT (I can't remember if there were any words in the right hand side of the LCD)
The words appeared split horizontally across the middle of the text so the top half of a word was offset from the bottom half. The remote was unusable for some hours and eventually came up but some of the text in the screen did not appear fully formed e.g. the letter "o" appeared as "c"
Thinking maybe I had a dud set of batteries, I changed batteries but again the remote was unusable for 6+ hours with garbage characters appearing in the screen. I had been using rechargeable alkaline batteries so I put a fresh set of Duracell M3 AAA batteries in, in case there was some issue with the batteries.
Same problem again, I left the remote overnight and it has now come up to a stage where it is usable, however, characters are missing from the screen and randomly appear to come and go e.g.
On page 1 of the screen I set up to control my tivo earlier today one of the labels that should read "DISPLAY" was reading "D Y" Now it is reading "DVD L" Another label is missing totally (but was partially there earlier)
I find the labels change after changing to another screen or page then coming back to the orginal screen.
Have had no problems with it until now. Anyone else encountered this??
Regards

I've gotten a similar problem with my MX-800. There seems to be an entire line of pixels that died so that it cuts the text as you described. Unfortunately I do not have warranty for the unit, but I think you still do. I'd contact HTM or bluedo and take use the warranty to replace the LCD if that is the problem.
