I have my MX500 M1 button set up to turn on my DVD player and my AV receiver both Pioneer. However my receiver only turns on at the last place it turned off.

Example if I have been listening to SACD I have to select signal 7.1ch (analogue)and it will stay in that position. But I want M1 to turn my AV on and choose digital signal (and also to choose movie mode).
Problem is these settings are on commands that have other choices on them as well. Is there any way round this?

I'm not sure what you mean by this. Are the buttons a "shifted" command, where you push a shift button of some sort, then the single command button? If so, the commands could be added to your macro. Or, are they buttons that just scroll through the various settings each time you push them? If that's the case, your macro will need a known starting place so that the proper number of button pushes can be added to the macro to get to where you want. Which situation do you have?

Program a macro to "push the buttons" that you'd do on the factory remotes to accomplish your goal.

They are buttons that scroll thru the various options. So I am not sure what you mean by finding a starting place as when I use my M1 button it will turn the AV off at a certain point and then turn it on again at the same point.?

The problem is that on the original manufacturer's remote if you press "standard" for surround, it will toggle between 5.1, 7.1, Movie, etc. The problem is that I have never seen discreet codes for Pioneer as far as surround modes go. I would just put surround buttons on your pages to go to the surround modes you want. If you don't have room on each individual page, put a master button called surround on the remote.

I know it's a pain, but there's no way around it (unless somebody knows an anchor point for Pioneer surround modes).

If you don't have discrete commands available (ie: direct access to each surround setting), then the only way you can program a macro to work properly is to assume the receiver's already on a specific setting. For example, if you want a macro to set the receiver for 7.1 surround, it has to assume that the receiver's already on 5.1 or whatever. Then you can program the correct number of button pushes in your macro to get to the 7.1 setting.
