I have an MX-500 now and want PC programability. I am also considering getting a MX-700 to replace the MX-500.

Is the MX-700 software better than the IR Clone software in any way or vice versa?

Thank you.

Both softwares are easy to use, so for me it's more a case of comparing the capability of the two remotes. The MX-700 has twice the number of devices and LCD-labeled buttons per device than the MX-500, as well as the ability to program a macro on any button. It also has some button layout differences that may be important to you. If you're happy with the capability of the MX-500, but just want to be able to easily change and backup your configuration, as well as have access to discrete commands, then IRClone will do the job.

Is the MX-700 software more versatile and/or easier to work with? Does the MX-700 have a bigger data base of unit codes?

Thank you.

The MXEditor has a larger built-in database of commands. Some people prefer MXEditor to IRClone, others prefer the IRClone software. You can download both of them right here on Remote Central and see which one you like best. You don't have to have the hardware to use the programs.
