I have one HD Directv Sony box and One RCA tivo box. Both have partial functionality through MX-800 but both Slow and both are seem to miss commands and work less effectively when cabinet doors are closed. I have no problems with the audio receiver or VHS or DVD. Just the directv and tivo boxes. I a have tried tons of configuration variables to eliminate roblem but can never get either of them to work right. I have a mx-600 on the bedroom system which works with 99% effectiveness (for some reason fast foward button refuses to learn) but otherwise it's great. HELP!!!

You might be getting too much IR to the sensors. If performance is worse with the doors closed and other devices are working perfectly, it sounds likely. If you are using several flashers and/or the front blaster of the MRF you need to do some rearrangement. Dont set to 'all flashers', give them individual assignments. TIVO's and sat boxes seem to be extra sensitive to IR, leading to oversaturating the sensors. A fix might be as simple as moving the flashers away from the sensors. Many times in an enclosure that will be operated with the doors closed you can put the flashers on the side of the unit

I had this problem at a client's house with a MX600 and a DirecTivo and some other DirecTV receiver. I tried all the tricks of 'tenting' the ir flasher, wrapping the RF100 in foil to eliminate interference, Use only the RF100 from some distance, etc... the list goes on.
Bottom line, nothing ever works and so i tell the client that he has to point the remote in their general direction when controlling those two pieces of equipment.

The library codes for the Sony TiVO , in a word, suck. I relearned all the SAT-T60 codes and it works flawlessly.

I know... I have the mx-600 in the bedroom with receiver and tivo and vhs and dvd and it works perfectly. In den I have same equipment but with a/b speaker system with a very similar tivo model but with the mx-800 and version 2 mx-200 and the tivo just will not funtion with RF... only with IR but since it is in a wood cabinet I can't operate with doors closed. everything else works perfectly with the RF and the IR. I am last going to try swapping the tivo's and seeing if that helps but I don't think it will since the HD directv receiver has similar RF problem.

bdaly001,
I had the EXACT same problem reported to me by one of our installers the other day. EVERTHING works perfectly but the Tivo operates slow and erratically. It works fine off of IR straight from the remote. He tried all the steps that would normally eliminate such a problem with no luck (yet).
