As Rayzz stated, the two are almost the same price if you add in the cost of the IRclone package needed to do more advanced programming from the PC. And personally, I think the MX-700 is better for TiVo... the extra menu, info, exit, and guide buttons are used constantly in TiVo operation. As stated, the 8 sec instant reply is easily put on the unneeded stop button, and the forward skip, rear skip, and 30 second skip are easily integrated into the FF, RR, and play buttons using press & hold macros. Operation ends up being quite intuative, and personally, I like it better than dedicated buttons for these functions cluttering up the critical area around the thumbpad. See this thread: [Link: remotecentral.com]I vote for the MX-700 as seen in this thread; also listed are my button defs. I mapped the 30 second skip toggle sequence to a LCD button, though I never use skip.

programming OTA channels onto the Fav keys will require entering a "-". The Tivo remote command for the dash is the Advance key. The MX-700 allows you to enter that via the macro to the Fav key. Can't do this on the MX-500.
I'm returning my MX-500 for the 700. I want to do this also, but I'm confused as the manual for the MX500 says the INFO/PAUSE button can be used as a part of a Favorite macro. I have the Advance Key(from HR10-250 TiVo) programed to INOF/PAUSE, however it doesn't seem to work. When programing the Favorite macro the INFO/PAUSE shows up as a "W" I want those digital OTAs in Favorites! Is this a malfunction or am I reading the manual incorrectly, or am I doing it incorrectly?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but when programming macros, the pause button only inserts a pause between commands, regardless of what is learned to it. I know the manual states otherwise for the "Favourites" macros, but I think that's a mistake.
The "W" indicates a pause (Wait) command for favourites.
I could be wrong. I don't have my 500 with me to test.

The "W" indicates a pause (Wait) command for favourites. That's correct. With the MX-500 (or 600), the "PAUSE" button only inserts delay time into a macro, regardless of what command is placed on it.

The manual does mislead the user into believing that you can use a learned command on the Info/Pause button in a favourite macro.
From the manual: Tip: (For Advanced Users) To make even more powerful FAV macros, you can learn codes from your original remote(s) to the 0-9, ENTER, DISPLAY, POWER, SYSTEM OFF, and INFO/PAUSE buttons in any device, and use them in your FAV macros.
