Yes you need IRClone to take advantage of the CCF2MX tool.

As for the IRClone doing most of its work once the MX500 is setup - that's partially true. You still need to learn codes from your original remotes although if you use CCF2MX, .MX5 files or the builtin database, IRClone gives you the flexibility to move codes around buttons, rename labels and edit macros easily.

And you cannot put a price on the ability to backup your entire config once you've got everything how you want it. Just in case the unthinkable happens. A potential disadvantage is that once you're all setup, you're unlikely to have much use for the IRClone device unless you change your equipment or macros often.

I ordered the IRCLONE-MX last night. I am going to wait until it arrives before I start messin' with the MX-500. I did the AUX 155 thing and learned some codes into my 8810w & 2103.

I hope you and your fellow helpers will be around when I receive. I'm sure I will have some questions. I have read quite a few posts on the IRCLONE-MX already and will continue to until it gets here. Can't wait.

Tell me you're not buying this device, just so you don't have to attempt to teach the mx-500 a command? Which you seem scared to even try. You also had qualms about entering codes, you got over that. You are making this TOO hard.

That is all very true, but it just sounded like the IRCLONE-MX will make everything just a little easier. I figured if I had more confidence that I would actually sit down this weekend and do it. Besides I had a little extra birthday cash so I figured there is nothing wrong in spending it on a nice gadgety thing, especially one that will help. (hopefully)

While you're waiting for your IRClone-MX to arrive, download their software and start editing. Unless you need to learn codes you can be ready to download when it arrives. Evejnn if you *do* need to do some learning, it is easier to set up all the button labels first, then download them, so you can keep track of what to learn where.

Feel free to ask IRClone questions in this forum - I'm sure I speak for everyone in saying we're more than happy to help. A good tip is to take advantage of the useful search facilities to look for any answers that might have been posted previously.
