Am I right that Push & Hold won't work as a shortcut on a hard key, while retaining the single function of that key?

On my SKY+ PVR I would like to use keys 1-5 to work normally when tapped, but to skip forwards 1,2,3,4 or 5 minutes respectively if held (via a shortcut to a macro).

Steve:

My suggestion is for you to do a search for "push and hold" on this forum. I believe there has been various discussions concerning this. It is my belief that the MX700 is not designed to do a push & hold. I'm not a pro and I stand to be corrected on this.

I believe the only way is a work-around; you have to program a macro that contains repeated steps with possible delays between them.

Anyway, some of the pros on this forum may be able to help you.

Thanks sbasile. I have read various threads and the manual, which is why I am pessimistic about achieving it! However, I would like to double-check, in case there is another way of approaching the problem.

I do believe that you can set the MX 700 to do a "push and hold" on a button if you add a delay as the first step of the macro to follow. Might have to experiment with different lengths of delay to get the right one.

I'm happy with the concept of push and hold, and with shortcuts. With my understanding of them, I don't think I can do what I want, but really wanted confirmation.

I bought an MX-500 3 months ago, so need a really good WAF case for justifying an upgrade to the MX-700. So I'm trying to plan what I can do with it, without the benefit of being able to try it out yet!

I know I can put ad skip macros on device buttons, but as my page 1 will be pretty full, it would be nice to access them from a hard key (while keeping the hard keys learned code). So 4 will start channel selection when tapped, but will skip 4 minutes if held.

Any ideas gratefully received!

OK, assuming no further response means I can't do what I was after, this is my plan B.

Page 1 of my Sky+ device hasn't got room for 'skip ad' macros, so....

When play is pressed to view a recording, it will shortcut to a macro which will 'play', then display Page 2 of the device. This will contain various length 'skip ad' macros (I record a number of different series, and ad breaks do vary).

When stop is pressed, it will shorcut to a macro which will 'stop', then go back to Page 1 of the device.

4 of my Page 1 buttons are used for red/ green/ yellow/ blue buttons, which are used heavily by Sky+, and by my Panasonic TV for input selection and telextext navigation. I find the lack of these as hard buttons quite a shortcoming on the MX range. Is their use peculiar to UK services, or are they used in the US as well?
