Not sure if this has been posted yet, but new versions of MX-700 and MX-800 Editor have been released...

Editor Version 1.11.192, Changes:
* Repaired - 'File open error' message popup on the some computers.
* Repaired - Learning function has failed on the some computers.
* Update - Device name TIVO is now renamed as DVR.
* Update - Pre-programmed IR database updated with new IR codes to version 1.58
* Repaired - Live Update will not work if you have version 1.11.183 or lower. Please use the patch program below to update your software.

For some reason the patch does not work for me. It runs sometimes, and sometimes goes off the screen.

Sometimes it asks me to click Setup, but Setup is grayed out.

I have .183 currently. I guess I'll have to download the latest version.

This patch should be included in the Live Update download and run automatically do update .183 and earlier.

What if you don't use RemoteCentral? This is kind of a fudgy way to do it, in my opinion.

I had the same experience regardless of where I executed the patch from. Doing a "Live Update" does rename the "Tivo" device, but the versions are staying as .183 and 1.57.

I'll send an email to HTM informing them of this issue.

I had the same problem. I went ahead and uninstalled .183 and installed .192.

I just received an email from the programmer and he is looking into improving the patch.

I will let you know if I receive an updated patch.

"* Repaired - Learning function has failed on the some computers."

I was thrilled to see this as I have one of the computers that wil not learn.....

Ended up Uninstalling 700 and 800, reinstalling new versions and guess what.....

Still dont work.........

ANyone found a solution for this? Tech support seems stumped.

Dell Inspiron 8500, 2.4Ghz, XP Pro with a Real COM1 Serial Port.

All,

First post, but love the site....bear with me.

I found a way to get the patch installed, at least on XP Pro SP1+ (+the numerous patches)Laptop with an MX-700.

1. Download the patch from the link in earlier in the thread.
2. Run the patch, but DO NOT click yes to apply.
Go to your %/userdir/Temp directory and copy all the extracted files to another location.
3. BACKUP your MX Editor program location and all subdirs to another location (in case bad things happen)
4. Copy the extracted files to the original MX Editor Progam location
5. Run program from your existing shortcut

This may leave some files in there that we don't need, but the application now reports proper version and IR DB version.

Looks like the installer used for the updater may have some issues.

Wouldn't it be a WHOLE LOT EASIER to uninstall the program and install the one from here on the site and then Live Update that one.

It works.

Your way seems very, very cumbersome.

Just my thoughts...

Well, I had the same problem with the update function. I then ran the patch to no avail.

I found that the easiest way was to uninstall the .183 version and then install the new full version that I downloaded from Remote Central. Now everything is great.

Well, of course it would have been had I downloaded the version from THIS site. I misread the post and went to the vendor site an DL'd the version there, which I assumed would have been the latest version. It was not, so after installing that version I started plan C.

Looks like URC finally got the updated version listed on their site.

Still doesn't make sense why the .183 version wouldn't update by simply using "Live Update". (makes you wonder what update really means)

Correction:
URC site states on their download page that it was version .192, but when I downloaded it and ran live update, it only turned out to be .187

When I download from here, I get the more updated .192

Looks like RemoteCentral does a better job at getting the latest software out to the customer than the actual manufacturer.

Way to go Daniel! Thanks as always!

Where exactly is this full version at Remote Central? How do I find it?

Thanks.
