Hi all, I do not know if "Good Guys" is a national chain or not, so this may only be of interest to northern Californians. I was watching HDTV recently and saw a good guys commercial with a bunch of CSRs "fixing" a persons house. Installed a new TV, etc. At the end, they wisked away a bunch of remotes off of the coffee table and replaced them with my beloved MX-500. This made me feel like a proud father...

Yeah. They're here in Washington State also. I saw that commercial. Pretty cool. Unfortunately there prices are a bit high and the last time I checked they were selling an old version of the MX-500 for $189.00. Maybe that's just here in Washington though.

It looked like version one or two. The one with the different thumb pad that there is so much controversy over. If you want, I will check it out the next time I am at the store and see if I can take a peek inside the battery compartment and get some information from it.

Well, according to URC Good Guys should have the latest model. What you saw just might have been the store demo.

No, I don't think so. It was still in the box hanging on the rack with the other remote controls with a price tag. I didn't question them on it but I assume it must be old stock. They probably don't sell a ton of them where I live (Bellingham, WA) which is a realatively remote area about 25 miles south of the the Canadian border. For that matter, maybe they rarely sell one of the HTM remotes. I could certainly find out. Should I alert the store manager about this? Or is it even an issue?

I just purchased a new MX-500 yesterday from Good Guys. How can I tell if it the latest model?
