Are all three of the capable of learning from another remote like my SL-9000 is by just pointing the old remote at the new remote in a learn mode?

Yes. They all have virtually unlimited learning capacity. If you want to see what the MX-700/800 can do, download the software and programming manual from the Files section here on Remote Central. You can essentially program the entire remote without even having one.
