I'm under the impression that the MX-700/800 *is* regulated, but to a lesser extent than some other remotes. One remote that had no regulation whatsoever, the Take Control, *really* has backlight brightness fluctuations - from bright to "not there". Also, I think my MX-500 had more variance than the 700.
