Oops!
Like many other users, some (actually most) of my components are not in the database. On the other hand, the closest match also includes advanced codes I didn't have before!
So I loaded the closest match to my receiver from the database, moved and edited all the buttons, then taught the additional missing commands (a bunch) from the factory remote. OBTW, this is a Kenwood two-way with many advanced codes nested on single buttons, and a real PITA to work with. Oh, and since my computer is not in the listening room, I then spent time walking back and forth, finding out which learned buttons didn't "take," re-learning, re-downloading the full configuration, re-testing, etc.
THEN (like an idiot), I deleted some database-provided buttons that I thought didn't work with my model.
Now I found out they do work (RTFM), and I want to add them back. But loading the full database command set again will wipe out all my custom work, right?
So, am I stuck with starting over, or is there a way to extract just those buttons I erased from the IR database? Or another answer?
Thanks for your help! -Bruce

Copy your current work to a new device and then reload the default codes to the old device and then selectively overwrite the codes from where you moved the copy you started from.

Rudolph,
Thanks for the idea! For a while, I thought I'd stumped everyone... :)
I figured out a way last Saturday. I loaded the IR database device codes to an unused device, taught the commands I wanted to my old learning remote, and then used the old remote to teach them back to the locations I wanted them on the MX-800.
Regards, -Bruce
