Hello,

Is there a way to directly program discrete codes to the MX-500 without the use of another remote? I already know the disrete code values and would simply like to manually enter them into the MX-500.

If this isn't possible, what is the cheapest remote that will allow me to program discrete codes without the use of a JP1 cable?

I simply want to program discrete on/off codes for my Panny 6uy and think a JP1 cable/software interface is overkill for my specific application.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

You could do it with a JP1 compatible remote, and you wouldn't need the cable. WalMart sells one for about $20, under the OneForAll brand. Look for a model with about fifty buttons and the UEI logo (accompanied by a slogan about having "the world's largest code library," or similar boast).

Are you sure the device supports discretes? Depending on where you got the codes, you might have to convert them to "EFC's," the numbering system used by JP1 remotes.

I am interested only in discrete codes for on/off to my Panasonic TH42PWD6UY. I read in this forum that the on/off codes available for the prior years model (5UY) will work with my model. The codes I have are not 3 number EFC's, but instead a string of hex codes. Is there some method/software which does the converting. Any forumla or conversion technique would be appreciated.

Thanks,

-P

Paste your discretes here. We can figure out what the EFCs are if we can see them.

Hello,

After some more searching, I found EFC's for both on and off for my model TV.

022 = on
026 = off

Now the question is how do you program these descrete codes into the OFA so my MX-500 can learn from it?

Thanks,

-Phillip

You need to find/assign the device code for your device. That's a matter of testing Panasonic TV codes till you find the one that works your set -- or even easier if someone's posted the code for your set.

After you've set the device, you press the program (magic) button -- one time, at regular speed -- followed by the EFC, and the remote will transmit the code. If you have problems coordinating it, you can use the advanced code procedure to map the desired code to one of the JP1 keys.

The setup code for panasonic tv is 0250. Just pickup the 15-2103 from radio shack for $13.

I understand that there are not discrete codes for all the video inputs on the Panasonic 6uy , however there is one for the PC input.
Can somebody post that "PC Input" code so I can use the radio shack remote and learn it into my MX-500.
