Has anyone tried editting an MXF file to manually enter an IR code? After reading the IR discussion on the www.irclone.com website, I think I've deciphered how the mx700 saves the learned IR data and how to find and edit it in the .mxf file. The scheme is almost identical to the mx500 and I've identified a few bytes not listed on the IR discussion if anyone's interested. However, while I can find and manipulate the learned data, the button layouts, labels and how everything is referenced still confuses me. Initial analysis shows that mxf storage is similar to the mx500 scheme but the amount of bytes and buttons are some definite differences. By discovering how the mxf file is laid out I'm hoping to find a way to enter in IR code manually. Anyone have any advice?

Whilst editing the mxf may sound like a great idea the sheer lack of info about the file plus having to work in hex really means its sooo much easier to manually enter a code into prontoedit as if you were creating a pronto config, save the config (a ccf), then use the universal browser function of mxeditor to open the ccf and drag it into the 700's config.

You don't need to do anything fancy in prontoedit, just create a couple of buttons to enter the hex codes you want, or re-use a sample\existing ccf config.

Take a look at Doug Swallow's procedure outlined here: Editing MXD Files
