I have an MX-500 and set up separate Macros to turn on and configure combinations of my receiver, TV, Tivo, DVD, VCR and Audiotron and am really happy with how they work. But I'm struggling with the best way to handle turning off the systems under each separate macro since each needs to do something different to clean up the components and set to a known state. I used System Off button for the Tivo configuration but then had to use 4 of the LCD buttons on the main screen for the other ones (tried to add these to specific device screens but that doesn't seem to be supported). Is there any way to have System Off act differently depending on the device currently selected? Any suggestions on better ways to handle this situation.

Thanks in advance.

The System Off button can contain a macro that works the same on all devices, or a single command for each device, but not both. If you have discrete "Off" commands for each component, you can have a "System Off" macro for all ocaasions.

I think that is the best way to do it as well. If you find discrete codes for your components, your system off macro will only affect those components that are already on. Even though you have separate ON macros for your devices, this solution will probably suit your situation.

Thanks for the info. What's the best source for finding the disrete codes? The most important one is the TV/Video input on my JVC TV. But I am considering a workaround where I run the VCR through the Video input and always change TV channels from the VCR or Tivo rather than directly on the TV. That way System Off can just turn off all devices and not need to adjust the TV/Video setting since it would never need to change. (I hope I've considered all scenarios when I say this)
