I have my MX800 completely programmed but the volume and mute buttons just will not work! I successfully downloaded some configurations to match my Sony TV but these do not work. I used the LEARNED feature and it shows GOOD with my existing remote and it still doesn't work. I am beginning to think my new remote has a problem with the sound buttons?
Any thoughts?

Sounds like you have a punch-through enabled, try punching through the vol command from tv to tv.

Problem still exists. I created a new configuration creating the devise myself and making it the only devise and still the volume and mute do not work? They are sending out IR but somehow not the correct IR (I have learned it over and over...) and tested it from known good configurations but nothing?
Is there somewhere I can get a devise that shows me what the IR reading is (collects the information so I can compare what the MX-800 is sending and what my Sony remote is sending)?

Also, try learning some other commands to the Volume buttons. Conversely, try learning the Volume commands to some of the LCD buttons. That may help you find the problem. Mike www.SurfRemote.com

Try erasing learning and punch though from both + and -vol and mute via all devices that use them. Reload the device. Test without learning first.
Something similar was my workaround for similar weirdnesses with Power and System Off although in those cases I had to erase Macros and Learning.

I did some erasing, recreations, etc. and magically the volume and mute now work (I say magically as I changed everything multiple times yesterday and couldn't make it work and today my first download and it worked)! Now it works perfectly and I made tons of changes/updates tonight.

I had a similar experience but until I first erased and then recreated, things were screwed up. You would think new programming would overlay the old but it appears to be not always the case. Only this sequence seems to clear the slate and get things back on track. Glad you were successful!
