I've been using MXEditor for a couple of weeks with no problem. I did the update today and now I'm getting crashes all the time.

Mine's been okay so far. Does it crash at any particular point, or is it just randomly occurring?

Try doing a live update again, and then close and restart the software after. Does it still crash?

It seems to occur most often when making changes to the layout of the FAV's.

When I try to do the live update again, it just says that no new updates are available. I'll try using it again this evening and see if the crashing persists.

Thanks.

What OS? If Windows XP, right click on the program icon and select Properties (if it's a shortcut you'll have to select "Find Target..." first). Change the compatibility mode to Windows 2000 (sorry, can't give step by step directions here -- not on my XP box). This has solved all crash issues I've experienced with the MX editor since the Universal Browser was added.

I updated also and got crash after crash (very frustrating as I am a newbie to this program.) I have since changed the compatibility to Win 2000. I hope the problem is fixed.

If you use the "System ReStore" roll back feature on windows XP you should be able to restore your MX editer to the time prior to when you upgraded. The roll back feature can be found under the following right click: Start
Then go to:
Programs
Accessories
System Tools
Ststem ReStore

Hope this helps

Thanks, dhambrook.

Actually I ended up uninstalling MXEditor. I downloaded the full installation exe and reinstalled it (the full exe is not the most current version) and then did a new update. I'm going to see if this works any better before trying the change in compatibility modes.

Thanks again.

Another thing I have found that helps when things start getting rough with XP is to open MX-Editor, download your latest MXF file to the remote, close the current MXF file, upload a "fresh image" from the remote, save the file with a new name, and work with this. I'm not sure what get cleaned up by uploading from the remote, but this has gotten me out of situations where things were crashing all the time and I was unable to make any progress with the "old, very modified MXF file".

Hope this helps...

Un- and re-installing and then re-updating didn't work.

Win2000 Compatibility mode didn't work.

I continue to get frequent crashes, particularly when rearranging the FAV's layout.

Thanks very much, though, for all the suggestions.

Are there any error messages generated or does the program simply close?
