I have been trying to program a system-off macro (press and hold) along with a device's power-off code on the same "OFF" button. It only seems to work for devices that got the disrete off code assigned directly to the "OFF" button from the ir database.

Most of the other device's discrete off codes, which all came from the database (but were automatically assigned to LCD buttons that I shortcut to the "OFF" button) didn't work. In some cases only the device off code worked, and in other cases only the system off macro worked.

Also, one device has a "learned" power code, and it won't coexist on the same button as the system off macro either.

What am I doing wrong? Is there a specific procedure that must be followed to do this?

Yes, to have a learned command and a macro on the same button, you must choose "Learn & Macro" from the Device drop down on the "Edit and Label Buttons" screen. You choose this after you've recorded the macro and "Save".

(Sorry, the Learn&Macro didn't show up before)

I think you have two issues:

1) Shortcut's to the LCD "Off" command do not work
I'm pretty sure that you can not have a short cut and a press and hold macro on the same button. Only learned codes and built in codes can be the "quick press" actions on a button that also has a press and hold macro.

2) You can not get Learned and Macros to work on the same button.
The steps are:
A) Learn the command to the button.
B) Create the macro.
C) At this point, the Device entry in the Edit and Label Buttons window reads "". Change it to "" and you are set.

Just to clarify, my problem is getting a "press and release" Power Off code and a "press and hold" System Off macro on to the OFF button (not one of the LCD buttons).

I've tried leaning the code to the button first, then programming the macro. I've tried it in the reverse order. Neither way works.

I've tried a shortcut to a Power Off code from a LCD button, then the Stsyem Off macro (also in reverse order), and that didn't work either.

As I stated before, the only time this "dual function button programming" worked was when a Power Off code from the MX-700 database was automatically assigned to the OFF button (not a LCD button), then the macro was added after.

It will work if you learn the command first, add the macro, save the macro, then assign the LEARN&MACRO and save.

Sorry, my original post told how to do it, but the "Learn&Macro" part was missing. Here is is again:

You must choose "Learn & Macro" from the Device drop down on the "Edit and Label Buttons" screen. You choose this after you've recorded the macro and then hit "Save".

Argh, just noticed that the BBS software drops anything between angle brackets, so the meat of my post was missing...

What I was trying to say was what MikeSRC mentioned, change "Macro" to "Learn & Macro".

It's not the software, it's the browser - anything between < and > is considered HTML to a browser.

The alternative is to disallow HTML posts, but I don't think that would go over well with a bunch of people in the Intermission forum. :-)

I must be missing something. I can't find any "Learn & Macro" item. The pulldown list has "Macro" and each of the devices I set up, but no "Learn & Macro". I did a live update today, so I think the software is as up to date as it can be.

It will not have "Learn & Macro" until you learn a command to a button and save a macro to that button. Once you do both, the "Learn & Macro" should be a visible option.
