I searched high and low for my remote and found it, the mx-700. It is not often that you buy something that perfectly fits your needs. I programmed it rather easily and it works great. I highly recommend it.

I was worried somewhat, I will admit. I was happily wrong. Thanks for the encouragement.

Hi:

I'm in the process of checking out the MX-700. It looks like a very nice remote. I'm trying to find a retailer that has one in stock that I can "touch and feel". I previously purchased the new Kameleon 8, but I have chucked it because of the slow touch response on the touch screen. I also checked out the Philips 3000 touchscreen remote but although the response was a little better, it also required pressing hard, etc. and I didn't like it that much.

I think that the MX-700 is what I really have been looking for.

I was also wondering if there are screens on the internet for downloading for some of the devices, such as the Philips DVDR985, so that one doesn't have to do all of the labels from scratch?

TIA

Sbasile

Whoops! Being new to this forum, I just found the files section. Sorry to ask for it in the last message.

. . . or if you don't need the PC programmability and macros, but have concealed components, wait until you see the MX-600. ;-)

I am sure the MX-700 is great, I just got a MX-800 and MRF-200 IR/RF module.

I love the remote, now I no longer have to manualy "Shift" 5 remotes on my lap and my wife can use it. ;)

It was easy to program, I even set up macros to switch inputs for each activity and programed them beginning with 1.0 second delay on each device of the main menu (DVD,TV,4DTV,VCR,GAME)

I set the MRF-200 on top of one of my rear channel speakers aimed right at the entertainment wall, it controls all five components from anywhere in the house with no need for the IR wires.

Exactly. The MX-800PKG comes with the MRF-200, an RF base station (similar to the Philips RFX-6000 if you're familiar with that). Then, while programming the MX-800, you tell the remote to send IR, RF, or both.
