I have 2 MX-500s that were very easy to program without any software. Can the 700 be programmed without the software? If so, how do you enter the menu?
Thanks

There is a new add-on to the MX-700 That allows you to, program the remote without using the software. You access the menu the same way as with the 500, however, when you press MAIN-ENT, it takes about ten seconds to reach the menu. You can use this menu to use pre-programmed codes, to learn functions, and to edit FAVs.

I should probably add that the remote is not nearly as customizable without the software and does not allow for programming of any macros other than the FAVs.

Yeah, I figured that much.
I'm starting to learn the software now. So far I find it great for labeling my buttons and learning the codes from my MX-500 and other remotes.
Im hoping to learn X10 codes from the Pronto to the 700.

You can also try using the universal browser to tranfer learned codes from a pronto file to you .mxf file.

Sorry, WRONG ANSWER. The new capabilities to the MX-700 are not all implemented yet. Only Learning can be done without a PC. FAV and Preprogrammed codes are coming, but the stand alone feature is not fully functional yet.

Best Regards,
Eric

The additional manual programming features are expected to be ready shortly.
