I have recently aquired the MX-700...wonderful beast. One thing I noticed, however: with my Tivo HDVR2, when the pause button or DirectTV! button is pressed and the remote is aimed directly at the HDVR2, the success of the button press is pretty low; say around 15-20%. However, if I point it away from the unit, say at the wall behind me or left/right, it works flawlessly.

So - being that I've read the MX's IR is super-dooper powerful, is there a thing as TOO powerful? Could the IR transmission be "overpowering" the Tivo's receiver?

This is a totally newbie question and I apologize in advance for not really knowing what I'm talking about, but I thought someone might know what I'm saying.

That's pretty odd. If it only happens with those two buttons, but the rest work fine, you might try learning those buttons from the Tivo remote (use a single push of the button on the Tivo remote while learning). It may just be that those two buttons have a "dirty" IR string.

The original TiVO library entries are very poor. I (and many others) ended up re-learning the device manually. All buttons work like a charm now.
