We've just received (and placed on our website) the new manual for the MX-700 and MX-800 software, MX-Editor. [Link: bluedo.com]It includes new material for RF control, standalone IR learning and the Universal Browser as well as many other smaller revisions. David www.BlueDo.com

The new standalone learning feature (which works like the MX-500's) sounds terrific and would definitely reduce the number of round-trips when trying difficult codes. Did anyone actually know about this before this manual's release?
Also, if they are adding SETUP menu functionality to the remote, it would be nice to have the ability to control the backlight timeout on the remote itself.

Eric Johnson had been requesting the learning feature for some time. On-remote editing of FAVs may also be added in the near future. Mike www.SurfRemote.com

I couldn't agree more! More than a few customers have commented how they'd love to be able to learn and test right from their coffee table / couch. Being restricted to the computer room for learning was a bit of a drawback that I'm thrilled they've resolved! David www.BlueDo.com

Just remember to upload your changed configuration to your PC to keep it up to date.

The only problem is that those of us with computer rooms on the second floor and home theatres on the first floor are going to miss out on some exercise. :-)

Learn a command, run upstairs and upload, run downstairs and repeat. ;-)

The current version of the MX-700 does not allow on remote editing of FAVs. I am amased! I would think for the price you are paying for the MX-700/800 that you would get ALL of the features of the MX-500 plus the ability to program from your PC. What other features to get with the MX-500 that you don't get with the MX-700?

The issue is that the MX-700's abilities are so advanced, it's near impossible to program them using only the remote itself.

May well be a great update - but the link here and on the HTM website times out without getting to the problem - or is that just me?

Mitch57 -- Note that on page 28 of the new manual setup includes "SCAN" and "FAV" functions that are not implemented as yet. Are they just teasing us? :-)
