Hello all,

I've read through the MX-500 FAQ but couldn't find the answers to some of my questions and was hoping you guys could help me.

1) My wife purchased the MX-500 and OFA 8811 as I requested for my B-day (she's great). She didn't, however, purchase the JP-1 cable. Do I absolutely need one to enter discrete codes?

2) As I do not have IRClone, I've manually edited all of the LCD labels for my main devices. I've noticed, however, that all of the device sub-menus still display the functions from the device that was orginally in that spot. Is this what's supposed to happen? Is there an easy way to get the correct LCD labels on the sub-function menus?

3) Any idea when IRClone will begin shipping again? The website states July.

Thanks in advance,

Chum

1. You may be able to get all the discrete codes you need through the use of advanced codes with your 8811. Find the setup code that works with each component, then look for corresponding advanced codes here: [Link: hifi-remote.com]

2. Yes, changing the MAIN page device label does not alter the device page labels. You're just changing a label, not a device. I found that I changed most of the device page labels to either match my original remotes, or to have commands more conveniently placed. IRClone is the easiest way to do that.

3. Only the IRClone guys know the answer to that. ;-)

Thanks for the quick reply.

Glad to hear I might still be able to get discrete's from my OFA without the JP1. I'm slightly confused however:

"You may be able to get all the discrete codes you need through the use of advanced codes with your 8811. Find the setup code that works with each component, then look for corresponding advanced codes here: [Link: hifi-remote.com]"

I think I've found the setup code that will work with my receiver (0158), but what do I do from there? How do I get my 8811 to output the discrete (ex. Power ON)? Any help is greatly appreciated.
