Do the MX-500 favorite buttons work for anybody else? Or is anybody else having trouble making them work?
I have never gotten them to work correctly. I've programmed 2-2-9-enter for the Home & Garden channel (my wife's favorite) onto one of the buttons. I push the button, and my TiVo gets 222 or some other weird combination. All of the digit buttons and enter are learned directly from the TiVo remote.
I thought the problem may be in the way the MX-500 learned the buttons. I looked at the learned button code (via IRCLONE) and made some modifications to clean them up. The digit buttons now individually work great. The favorite button was still not working.
So then I examined what the MX-500 is sending out when I push the button. I wrote some software to use the IRCLONE to capture the IR signal. When the favorite button is pressed, the MX-500 is sending out 2-2-2-2-2-2-9-9-2-enter-2-2. Or something close to that. Which is totally screwed up. Which makes me question whether the favorites work at all.

Problems with FAVs are fairly common, but they're usually due to some underlying preprogrammed code (from the factory) on the buttons. Using AUX 155 usually solves the problem. See the following thread (one of many on the subject): Favorite Channel ProblemsMike www.SurfRemote.com

Remember to erase all the learned commands first, before programming AUX155.

Thanks guys. That did the trick. I should have done a search.
I used the IRCLONE to change it to AUX/155. It didn't touch the learned codes at all.
That's a weird bug in the remote.

Weird, but thankfully has a fairly easy workaround!
