I did the live update. How do I go about using ccf files for my mx-700? I see the universal browser but don't see any ccf files. Please help!

You have to download an appropriate CCF for your particular component from the Files section on this site here. Then you can open it with the Universal Browser.

  1. Open the Universal Browser.
  2. Click the FOLDER icon which browses your hard drive for the .ccf file you want to use.
  3. With the .ccf now open, browse using the file tree on the left to the page you want to grab codes from.
  4. Drag the button shown on the Universal Browser over to the button on the MX-700/800 you want to have that code. VOILA! The code is now learned to the MX-700/800.

When you say the appropriate file, do you mean that I have to find someone's configuration of a piece of equipment that I have. As an example, I have a pioneer elite reciever and there is a configurtaion file for this. Is that the file I download or is there some place else I should be looking for the files? Sorry to be so stupid about this, but if the shoe fits...

Yes, you need to find a CCF for your Pioneer Elite receiver (or a similar model number). Keep in mind that many of the CCFs have other devices in them as well. For example, there are a number of Pioneer receiver files here.

However, unless you're looking for some commands that either aren't on your original remote or in the MXEditor IR database, you don't need the CCF.

Exactly - click FILES on the top of every page on this site, and browse to the Philips Pronto section. There, you'll find thousands of .ccf files containing codes for all sorts of devices! Download the one for the model you have (or a similar model) and give it a try!

Nickster,

I hope you have actually tested the MXEditor database. Every Pioneer Elite code known to mankind is already in there and it is a lot less work than using the browser.

Eric, well I guess the CLD-52 isn't known to mankind? More to the point, what exactly are you looking at in MX-Editor? I just brought up the Pioneer LD options and there are a whopping 5, 3 of which are generic. Am I missing some great cache of IR codes (seriusly!) in MX Editor somewhere?

rja,

There are only a few "generic" code sets because Pioneer used the same codes for many years and hundreds of models. I suggest you try them. I would be startled indeed, if none of those code sets worked. Feel free to give me a call, I would be delighted to help.

Best Regards,

Eric,

I am hoping to get discreet on/off codes.

Nickster,

Please take a look at the database. Pioneer laser disc code sets 2 and 3 both have discrete P-ON and P-OFF codes (that means discrete Power ON and discrete Power Off).

It is actually taking you so much more time to post to this forum, just look at the database!

Honestly, the first thing to check when you are looking for discrete codes is the MXeditor database. Only when the database fails you do you start going for learned codes or hex files.

Best Regards,

-Eric
