What happens if you change the "AUX" name and function on the main page? Will the AUX 155 function still work to clear a device? I also am having a problem getting the MX-500 to work with my Dish 301 receiver. It worked before and then I changed things around put my SAT where the AUX used to be. Now it refuses to accept any of the Pre-programmed codes for the echostar receivers. I had to "Teach" it every single command manually from the original remote. I tried using the "AUX 155" but since the "Aux" is now my "SAT", I'm not sure if it's working.

It doesn't matter if you edit or change the AUX device, that is always where you'll get AUX155. It goes the same for the SAT codes, even though the AUX position is now your SAT, you still have to get the code from the SAT's original position.

That's true for all devices - when you're using pre-programmed codes, the original layout always applies, regardless of what programming you've done: | AUDIO | TV |
| CD | VCR1 |
| DVD | VCR2 |
| TAPE | SAT |
| AUX | CABLE |

Does that mean if I want to have my SAT where my Tape was originally that I won't be able to use any preprogramed codes on the SAT because I changed it from it's original factory default position? If this is true does the same hold true for the MX-700?

No, what they're saying above is that if you put your SAT device where TAPE is, you use the original location of the SAT device when asked "where" the code is coming from. The steps are as follows: 1. Enter programming mode 2. Select P-PRO 3. Select the device to be programmed (in this case, the SAT device which is now in the TAPE location, 4th button down on the left) 4. Select the device the code is coming from (the original location of the SAT device, 4th button down on the right) 5. Enter code and save. The MX-700 is not the same in that the codes come from an IR database, not a specific location on the remote. Hope that makes it clear. Mike www.SurfRemote.com

If I understand it correctly that would explain why the preprogramed codes didn't work when I moved my SAT device from it't original location. For simplicity sakes, it would probably be best to keep the layout in the factory default settings so I wouldn't have to refer to the manual everytime to remember where "Tape, or VCR1" were located. However, IR-Clone would solve alot of these issues as it would give me the ability to move things around and make several different backups in case I make a bunch of mistakes which I already have. Do you agree?

How often do you plan on programming the remote? If you plan to change things often, perhaps you could edit the text labels on an unused page to the standard device labels? David www.BlueDo.com

That's a good idea! Thanks! If only the MX-700 were in the $200.00 price range I could solve all my issues. However, I do see that all authorized dealers are selling the MX-700 for $349.95 which is the same price that URC is selling it for. Does that mean there is a possibility that the authorized dealer's pricing might drop in the near future due to the introduction of the new MX-800?

The pricing on HTM's website and their authorized dealers has always been the same. With the introduction of the MX-800 at $499.95, the MX-700 dropped from $499.95 to $349.95.
Re: the 500, if you plan and relabel your button locations in advance, you'll find that you won't have to change anything until you get a new component. Learning commands from your original remotes (rather than using preprogrammed codes) makes it easy to set up the 500 just the way you want it.

Thanks Mike. I did notice that on HTM's web site that they list the MX-500 for $189.00 but you and BlueDo sell it for $107.95. Is that because you are having a special on the MX-500?

No, the MX-500 is not part of HTM's Custom Line (like the MX-700 and 800 are) and is subject to market pricing.

I kinda thought that might be what it was. I was going to ask that originally. I remember reading alot about the MX-700 only being available to custom installers at one point in time and then they decided to make it available to everybody.
I want the MX-700 but can't justify the cost. If I could, how could I convince the wife I need to upgrade to the MX-700. I know! I could accidently run over the MX-500 with the car and tell her that type of damage isn't covered under warranty. Then I will tell her that I can't get the MX-500 anymore so I have to upgrade to the MX-700.
NA! That won't work. She would question me as to why the remote was laying on the garage floor in the first place and then she would tell me there is no way in (you no where) that she would allow me to spend $350.00 on a stupid remote control!! Besides that, why would I want to destroy a perfectly good MX-500?
Well, it was a thought. Maybe one of you guys has been in the same delima. How did you convince your significant other?
