I cant seem to learn many codes on my 500 or 700 for my Toshiba TV. Any ideas..

65HX81 TV. Yes some commands do..

Well, as far as the MX-700's concerned, there's a pretty comprehensive code set for the 65HX81 in MXEditor's code database that should give you most of it. With the 500, you should be able to learn any command from the Toshiba remote. What specific coomands are you having trouble with? If they're ones that are subject to a punch-through, make sure they're not being overridden by an inadvertant punch through.
