As you may or may not know. I have been working on my layout for my basement HT. I sort of put the bull ahead of the cart by getting all the stuff before I actually finished the basement. With a new house and all the basement is sort of the last thing to be spending money on so the actual construction is on hold for now.
I decided to impress the wife by programming my MX-700 for “her” tv-system. She has a 36 incher with tivo, dvd, and receiver in the living room. I did the punch-throughs and lots of favorites. I have X-10 turning on and off lights and when you hit “night” it starts a macro that turns off everything but the one light by the stairs- and 5 minutes later it too goes off. I was so excited to preset it to her. Show her that my new expensive remote actually DOES for once do what I told her it would.
Guess what. She freaking loves it. What did I do? I can’t get it away from her now. What am I going to do? Could we become a two MX-700 family?
The moral to the story is this friends: “Let the wife think your just wasting money on your projects. Trying to impress will only end up costing you more money”

well isn't that better then here complaining until the theater is done and then when she sees what the remote can do, she takes it. It might increase her faith in your other HT and help with them. And it also gives you a chance to decide if you would rather have an 800 or the next best remote that comes out by the time you are ready for it.

Sure it is- and you are right; but still. She won’t let me use it now. She has to be in charge of “her” remote now. Oh the shame. I’m sure things will be fine. I just need some time. Hehe……

This way, when you want to get that new LCOS projector, you can say "Remember how much you like the MX-700? Well, you're really going to like this! ;-) Mike www.SurfRemote.com

Funny when considering that many folks relegated the MX-200 to "wife duty"! :) David www.BlueDo.com

I know. I made the mistake of giving her the 200 AFTER! She looked at me and I kid you not said “Are you f*ing kidding me Ken? YOU keep that one if it’s so good. I will just use this one then.”
I love my wife. She’s great! At least she knows a quality product. What a great advertisement for MX-700’s.

But I would leave out the part where she says the 200 is a joke :-)

Okay, we've come to a consensus - MX-800! I was thinking it might require a different type of Gemstone. ;-)

I think he meant to be funny with the gemstone buttons and jewelry being actual gemstones
