I have owned an MX-500 for @ 3 months and love it. However, I have noticed that @ once a week the screen freezes-up and will not respond at all. The simple solution is to remove one of the batteries for a second then replace it. Then the remote works fine.

This has not been a major concern but is beginning to become annoying. I just wandered if this is a common problem or if reprogramming might solve the problem? I have IR-clone so programming is not a major obstacle.

Any feedback would be appreciated!

Scott

I know your letter is rather old, but I just got my MX-500 from bluedo.com and I also seem to have freeze ups. Its very annoying if I have got a faulty Remote, it won't be nice to send it back to get a new one

I have freeze-ups too, since day one.

They claim it was either a bad command (so I labored through another set-up, cleared the thing and started from scratch and of course that did no good), then they said the remote must be bad somehow. Send it in and they'll repair or replace.

What I can't fathom is why they simply won't do a cross-ship. Charge a new remote on a credit card, send it out, you ship yours back, they get it, verify it's toast and credit back the charge for the second remote.

It would be SO MUCH MORE CONVENENIENT for we whom they have turned into MX500 junkies.

Anyway, my freezes happen if I accidentally press "ent" followed by M3 (which has nothing programmed on it, by the way.) It happens when I'm fumbling in the dark and mean to hit 9-ent but land a row low on the keypad.

The same battery-pull trick restores it.

I've had same problem, occasionaly using remote to turn on TV causes remote to lock up, nothing works. Universal claims there is no lockup feature in remote, they don't understand it. Remote returns to normal function in about 1/2 hour without removing battery.

Yes, mine works after about half an hour too, without doing anything with it...
It does NOT work by pulling out the batteries and put them back again...
It is very annoying..
Seems like my remote could be faulty then, seems like I have to pay another bunch of money to send it BACK, It isn't cheap to send stuff to another country. And right now I am short of money, it have to wait awhile.

Seems that this is a more common problem than I thought, I wonder if it happens with the new remotes or any version of this remote.

Hi,

The engineering team at Universal would really like you to call us for a return authorization if you are experiencing this problem. The MX500 should NOT lock up like this.

If those of you who cannot live without your MX500 for a few days (we have very quick turnaround times), could post the BARCODE number inside the battery compartment on this thread (or email me direct), we would much appreciate it.

Best Regards,

-Eric

I'm experiencing similar lockup problems. I've had my MX-500 for 1+ year, no problems until a week ago. Periodically locks up, removing/replacing battery doesn't help, after 1/2-hour returns to proper operation by itself. Battery compartment doesn't contain a barcode, but following info is there:

010717
ver1.03.002

Who should I call/contact (phone #, etc.) to request RA# for return/replacement?
