My DVD remote uses a single button for chapter skip and scan forward--press and release the button and you skip to the next chapter. Press and hold the button for two seconds and release and you scan forward at 4X normal. Press and relase again at you are at 32X. How can I duplicate this on the SL-9000? Thanks for the help!

Exactly what brand of DVD is that? Have you tried just learning the code the normal way (hold until the remote finishes) and testing?

My Toshiba SD-5109 does the same thing. Just have the SL-9000 learn the functions for that button from your original remote and it should map fine in the SL-9000. I had no problems with my Toshiba DVD player.

Also, if your learned keys don't work the first time
around for both skip & scan, you may need to try capturing them again, perhaps while varying
1) head-to-head distance between the remotes, and
2) length of time the original key is held down

I've found this to be necessary for a couple of finicky OEM remotes.
