Hi guy's
Just purchused a mx-500 and love it! Trying my had at discrets without much success. Went to radio shack and purchused a 15-2103, went through the programing as seen in posts on this site.

Press the device key
Press and hold SETUP (wait for two blinks)
Enter 9-9-4 (wait for two blinks)
Press SETUP (don't hold it)
Enter the 3 digit code
Press the button to be assigned

Plugged in code 109. Tried it on 3 of my sony pieces and nothing. I think this is the system off code but none of my sony stuff turned off. The 3 pieces I tried it on were my sony sat-a2 sat reciver, sony slv-n71 vcr,and my sony dvp-7700 dvd player. The intention of buying this remote is to program the discretes and teach my mx-500. Can anyone tell me what I did wrong. Thanks.

You have to program a Setup code that works with your equipment to one of the devices before you enter any advanced or discrete codes to that particular device. For most Sonys, the Setup code is 0000. Follow the instructions in the manual for programming a device.

I have the exact same problem- after programming a setup code for a sony device how do you "enter any advanced or discrete codes to that particular device."

I am using a RS 15-2103 remote which is supposed to work...

Sorry for the newbie question. I have searched and searched for details on how to do it with theis RS remote, but without luck. Thank you.

Follow the instructions for the 15-1994 listed here: [Link: hifi-remote.com]
Use the "P" key where it mentions SETUP.
