Looks like the move in the editor correctly kept the punch through pointing to the right device even though it moved location. However the content of the volume controls no longer worked. I re learned it and all the punch through settings worked again.

So it looks like it is just as reported, the learned codes for volume didn't move correctly when the device moved.

I might try a few more to see if it is consistant.

Yep, just as everybody else is reporting, it was the punchthroughs messing things up. I cleared the punchthroughs, relearned the volume controls, and reset the punchthroughs. Everything is fine now.

Mike,

I also had somewhat the same problem. But in my case, after I used the expert download, which said it was a good file transfer to the MX-500, (which ultimately it was), the MX-500 was locked up in that the LCD screen stayed at START and EXIT, and the EXIT would not let me back to the main screen no matter what buttons I pushed. None of the buttons worked anything and the backlight didn't work either.

So, I took out one of the batteries to "reboot" the MX-500, and wallah! it worked. The remote was just fine and the new download took just fine including changing punchthroughs. I've tried it several times and it locks up every time, even though the download always "takes".

I wonder if you or anyone else noticed their '500 lock up like this and need "rebooting"? Kind of a pain to have to do this every time I download a new change to the remote.

The IRClone-MX seems like a cool device in ways, but when I think about it, it doesn't seem like anything I couldn't accomplish with simple planning on some paper. They're going to have to bring down the price before I can justify spending that much money to organize my remote. And besides, couldn't you just buy a USB infrared device? Because the 500e software is downloadable, because they just assume that you will buy the IRClone-MX to be able to use it.

Onto another topic... macros. I've seen discussion in the past about finding IR codes that point directly to an A/V input, rather than just cycling though them, and also discreet on/off codes. So for example if you have a DVD macro, then you want to turn on the tv, the dvd, play it, turn on the receiver and set it to the correct input, and set the tv to the correct input, but with my sony wega tv (KV32FV15) it just cycles through the inputs, and it's not like the command knows what input it is currently on, therefore no way of knowing how many times to send the input command. If anyone knows where I can find something pertaining to this, or has any information, PLEASE email me at [email protected], THANK YOU!

Yes the software is down-loadable. But that doesn't mean it's free in the usual sense. It's designed to recognize only their hardware device. As such it should really be considered just part of a total package, software and hardware. IRClone makes the software available so potential customers can check it out to see if it meets their needs.

TeknoGeek: The IR Clone boys tried the "standard" ir PC devices and they did not work. Thus the special piece of hardware.

IMO, the software offers much more than doing it on paper. You end up with a backup of your configuration if your remote dies. You can upload/download codes between others and yourself. Handy to be able to get codes you might need (such as Sony's separate video input codes (that your TV supports and Sony leaves off of the remote)) or you may have codes that others might want (I uploaded some cool Denon AVR-3803 volume and mode commands that others have used.)

BTW, a workaround for your Sony TV input problem is to start the TV part of the macro by changing channels (say to ch 6), then have the macro send out the correct number of input change commands to get to the right one. Since the Ch 6 beginning point is always the same, this should always work. Also, don't bother sending a power on command to your DVD player. Nearly 100% of them will turn on by issuing the Play command (saves a macro step for the multiple TV steps you'll need.)

Ok, I'm new to this and confused. I have the beta 500e edit software. I have the ccf2mx utility and a ccf file for discretes on HLN Samsung TV's. I run the conversion and import to the editor but the codes don't seem to show up. I can see in the file that they are there. What am I doing wrong?

CCF2MX saves files as “.txt” files. When you go to open the file in IRClone 500e Editor select those file types in the drop-down. You can open the “.txt” then save it as an “.M5” file.

Hi, That is just what I did. Then I opened the .m5 file in mx500Learn and there are no codes in there that I can see.

Here is a link to the ccf file I started with:

If someone would repeat the steps and either post a good m5 some where or explain what I did wrong it would sure be appreciated!

Thanks!
