I've had my new MX-500 for about 3 days now - and so far so good. Components are all programmed in and a few macros as well. I see how you need to use it for some time to really customize it - as I've been tweeking things here and there.

I have a question regarding use of PIP feature. Currently - when I power on my system - I end on my cable box as the final control. It is digital cable with HDTV. Through the Learn function, I have my TV's PIP control on the cable LCD screen - so PIP works. The issue is to control the second PIP - I need to control the channel up/down through the TV component. So that means I have to "PIP", "Main", "TV" - to surf channels on my second PIP while the first is through my cable box. Then when I close the PIP I have to go through the reverse to get back to cable control of channels. PIP is usually a convenience - but this set-up isn't.

Just wondering if anyone has a different set-up that works for them? I like working though the cable box/HDTV input as I have the most channels - but suggestions on ease of PIP would be greatly appreciated.

For reference, I have a Sony XBR TV and a Magnovox Cable/HDTV box.

Thanks,
tjk.

You added the PIP command to the cable's lcd screen, then just add whatever else you need to control the second PIP screen to the cable's lcd.

I have mine set up with all of the PIP controls taught to the LCD buttons on my TV device, which is the only device that can use them. PIP, SWAP, PIP+, and PIP- are the labels that I used. Works like a charm -- better than the original remote configuration.
