I had the Sony AV2100 prior to getting the MX-500. I prefer hard buttons plus the ability to edit button labels. I think the Sony AV3000 is much improved over prior models so I think it really boils down to whether you like touch screens or hard buttons and if you like one-handed operation-the Sony is a little too large for this. They are both very good remotes
and some people will like the Sony and some will prefer the MX-500. I really like the MX-500 and I think you would be happy with it (could probably say the same about the Sony). I really haven't answered your question but it really is a personal decision. Try both if you can.

I have both. If I could return the Sony I would because I'm in love with the MX-500. I thought the sony was pretty nice until a week or so ago when I got the 500. I give the MX500 my highest recommendation.
