Using the MX-500 and Sony XBR-36 TV (0000). The Sony Video modes are:

Video 0 (TV)
Video 1
Video 2
Video 3
Video 4
Video 5
Video 6 (DVD)

The MX-500 will LEARN the Video 6 code (DVD) just fine, but none of the other video codes can be assigned. The only way I can get back to the TV mode is to manually (or via the MX-500) keep pressing T/V until I'm at Video 0.

Obviously, having to do this between two primary components defeats the entire purpose of having a programmable remote in the first place.

Any ideas? Thanks!

My big screen Toshiba accesses Video the same way. I found two ways to program the video codes, moth with Macros. With only two codes to program also, I assigned M3 to Video 1 and Satellite Mode, and M2 to Video 1 and TV Mode. I used M1 to switch between Tuners on my TIVO which is real handy when I'm recording something on one of the tuners. The other way I program it is with Macros when I hold down my SAT or TV LCD buttons. You may have tried this already, but it works fine for me.

Duane, unless the display is on, all you need to do to change tuners is hit the down arrow.

If you have a Palm, you should be able to use OmniRemote (a Palm app) and ORDesktop (a Windows program), to enter the discrete IR Hex codes for your TV, and use the Palm to send them to the MX-500. I think you'll find the discrete codes in the Pronto section on this site:

I haven't tried this, but I read a post from someone at agoraquest.com who uses this method with his MX-500 remote.

Duane,

Thanks...but I finally figured out the best way for me (in the absence of discrete Soney video codes that worked with the MX-500), was to use to use a combination the one that does work (VID 6) and the T/V button.

To move to my TV (VID 0) is one "T/V" click away from VID 6, so I just add "VID 6" and then "T/V" into the TV macro string and it works just fine.
