newbie question: when i go into macro programming mode, i don't see the steps actually occurring. e.g., i go into macro prog mode, hit tv and then menu, but the tv menu doesn't appear. is this how it is or am i doing something wrong?

When you're in macro programming mode, you first select the button you're going to program (ie: TV), then select the commands by pushing MAIN and the device the commands are coming from (ie: TV). You should then see the first page of the device, and you can choose any button (fixed or LCD) to add to the macro string. To add commands from another device, push MAIN and the device button.
