Hi All:
Tired of my remote control clutter on the coffee table, I am planning to buy an universal remote control. Was searcing on the web for reviewes and found this great site.
I haven't used an universal remote control yet - so my questions might sound stupid - but please forgive.
Q1. Can MX-500 learn all features from my YAMAHA receiver - particularly the proprietary DSP sound features such Sci-fi, 70mm-adventure etc? These are hard-buttoned on the remote that comes with the receiver.
Q2. I also have a Technics Tape Deck (dual deck) - but no remote control - but it has remote control capability. What I learnt from this website is - MX-500 has a euipments database. Can MX-500 handle important tape deck features like - selcting deck A or deck B, forward PLAY, reverse PLAY etc.?
Any help would be highly appreciated.
Happy Holidays!

1) Yes! Any codes in your factory remote can be learned to the MX-500. 2) This will take a bit of trial on your part - but if the codes are there there's a good chance you'll get lucky and have all the features you want. David www.BlueDo.com

Your Technics tape deck might be remote capable, through a technic's receiver. Meaning does it have a remote sensor of it's own?

Thanks for the checking my question.
Yes it does. I have entered code on my receiver remote and I can use PLAY/FF/REW functions - the only problem is - I cannot use advanced tape deck features like select deck A or deck B or forward/reverse PLAY etc.
That's the reason I am concerned if MX-500 would let me control my tape deck fully.
Thanks again!

Yes, The "bit trial part" is what I am concerned about. Not sure if that'll work.
Thanks!

There are 7 codes for a technic's tape decks. It worked with my Pioneer dual auto-reverse tape deck.
