I just bought a Delphi Skyfi XM radio and have been trying to program the remote into my MX500.
It turns out that this remote is a Multicode remote. When pressing a button the first time you get one set of codes and the second press sends a different set.
This makes it very difficult or impossible to scroll down through menu's on the radio because you can start scrolling but that is it. The second press of the key on the MX500 does nothing because it only learned the first remote code.
This is not my first encounter with a multicode remote but this is the worst I have seen.
Does anyone have any useful suggestions for dealing with this problem (Or should I post in another forum)?
Thanks, Phil

Phil, Can you give a specific example of two different codes coming from the same button? David www.BlueDo.com

David, all I know is that I gave my remote to my Crestron programmer to put the IR codes into my Home Automation system and each button that it learned came up with two discrete codes for each button.
The Crestron programming recognizes this and stores the two codes and uses them as the remote does.
Unfortunately the MX500 is not that smart and will only learn the first code. So if I enter a menu and start to scroll down a list, the first time I press down I scroll one position and the second time nothing happens. It acts like it forgets the code or locks up.
I was wondering why it wouldn't work but due to the Crestron IR code learning software I now know it is due to two discrete codes per button.
I am not sure where to go from here???

You may be able to learn each command to two different buttons on the MX-500. Learn the first the same way you have done so far, then learn the second to a different button by pressing the first command with your hand over the IR emitter, then remove your hand and send the second command to the MX-500.

Here is what I did to get around it..but it isn't pretty :(
I programmed the first press of the up button to the channel up and the second press of the up button to the channel down.
Now, to scroll up through the channels I need to do sort of a rocking motion on the channel button, back and forth...If I just press up it stops.
I then programmed the down button in the same fashion on the volume button and rocking that button back and forth scrolls down through the channels on the radio.
As you can see this is not a very good solution as it uses up the volume button and requires some real finness to make it work.
I am open to suggestions :)

If I understand this right, you push two buttons to scroll up one entry. Why not program those two buttons to be called by a "Fav" macro? Then one hit of the fav macro will move up one entry. A similar favorite macro would be used for scrolling one entry down. You would probably want to learn the steps onto the numeric keys of an unused device first, due to the limitation of which keys can be called from a fav macro. I hope that this makes sense. Chris

Actually, the way it works, is that the single button press puts out an alternating code each time you press it. So a Macro would only work if you wanted to scroll two postions at a time.
