I'm having problems with my volume down, channel down and my menu button. You now have to push down hard to get it to work, so I'm getting ready to send it in. My question, I have one of the original MX-500's, do the Gemstone versions have more of a robust button whereas you might not have this type of problem?

Absolutely - the original buttons were soft and flexible, the new buttons are much stiffer (but have the nice GemStone finish), so that would likely solve your problem. Daniel writes: "The GemStone plastic is stiffer and harder than the original, resulting in a more "solid" feel to the buttons"

Is your remote still under warranty?

No David, it's not under warranty, I was one of the original purchasers (week after release). I am familar with the new GemStone as far as physical appearance, I got one from you for my dad for Xmas. Since I don't quite understand what makes a button become sluggish, I was wondering if what's underneath the button was more robust. What is under the button that can become worn? You definitely have to push the buttons I'm having trouble with further down, like something is worn.

Just for the record, if I have the same button problem with a remote bought from you(within 2 year warranty period) would it still have to go to HTM to be fixed? Or would you just clone it and replace with a new one?

Mike,

For a DIY fix, check out Rob's Worn out button fix and see if that works for you! If a remote fails during our warranty, it would be covered.
