Hello,

I am trying to use my IPAQ 3950 with TV remote 5.1 to program discrete codes into my mx-500. I'm using prontoedit and the discrete codes (sony TV, panasonic dvd) from this site. I can get the ccf file working with my components(I tested with on/off codes for the sony), but i cant get the mx500 to learn from it. It's driving me crazy, I really want to get some macros in my remote!

Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening? I may just have to do it the jp1 way. Thanks for any suggestions given.

Maybe I can save you some headache by telling you that this simply will not work. The IR transmitters on PDAs are designed for communications rather than controlling devices. The only way that the iPaq can output IR signals is in short bursts -- it cannot repeat the code long enough for the HTM to learn it.

There is a company that makes an IR transmitter that plugs into the headphone jack on PDAs. This option is supposed to greatly increase the usefulness of PDA remote software, and also may allow you to learn the codes. Don't know the exact link, but it shouldn't be hard to find.

Good luck,
Blue
