So we're going to have to deal with remotes with
model #'s RM-AV3000, TSU-3000,and MX-3000.

I agree!

They should have called it the MX-3205 GTS in Misty Blue (sunroof extra!) LOL

But, I do understand. It's going to be hard to answer a post that says - "Help with my new 3000...", etc. I guess we'll definitely need that new TSU3000 forum, and pay special attention to which forum we're in!

Greg, what's your gut feeling that HTM will implement our suggestions in the near future?

Would this require a entirely new model, or do you think our current MX-500's could be upgraded?

It would require an entirely new model to produce the button layout that I would like, which is a sort of "in between" version of the MX-500 and MX-700.

My gut feeling is that the MX-500 is lower on the priority list when compared to coming out with new remotes. From what I know, adding more memory into the MX-500, which is the only way to add new features, requires a new IC chip, probably larger, which means a rework of the PCBoard, which is fairly expensive. So, since most people are happy with the MX-500, I don't see it happening any time soon.

The MX-800 and the MX-3000 has been taking up a lot of their time lately, but who knows what will come after that.

And, I hope everyone doesn't get too excited about the MX-3000, it probably won't be out until the latter part of 2003.

A new mold (just for the case) for a remote such as the MX-700 or MX-500 costs in excess of $100,000 to manufacture. That does not include the revamping of the PCBoard to accommodate the button layout.

Will the MX-800 be out any sooner than that?

Possibly in the spring of 2003.

Anthony: There will be a prototype of the 3000 at CES, so I was just warning the users of this site that when you get some of the details on it, don't jump on the bandwagon and start accusing HTM of being late with their products.

That's all I meant.

Suggestion for any upgraded MX-500....DISCRETE CODES!!!! (and maybe a JP-1 interface if we can't have a proper cable).

Remember, JP-1 is a UEI thing. A company that competes with URC. If URC ever does something like that, I'm sure it'll be TOTALLY incompatible by design. :-)

If URC every does that, it will have a mini-plug on the end or side, just like the MX-700, MX-800 and MX-1000.
