There are two remotes listed in the new products section at cesweb.org. One appears to replace the MX-700 and the other the MX-1000. Anyone care to hazzard a guess what changes there will be?

MX-800:
"Designed for the Custom Installation dealer market. Very powerful total system control. GemStone button design. Fast and easy programming using the MX Editor software program."

MX-3000:
"Dynamic IR and RF Active TFT Color Touchscreen remote control system. Unique one-hand design allows total whole house control. Easy to read crystal clear color display provides a simple user interface. Fully programmed by PC software. Robust IR code preprogrammed database offers over 1,000 IR codes. Designed for the Professional Custom Installation Dealer market."

Well, you can probably figure out almost everything about the MX-800 by seeing that it is going to be programmed by the MX Editor software. What do you think might be missing from the MX-700?

And, no, the MX-3000 is not a replacement for the MX-1000. The MX-1000 is black and white, as you know.

You'll also notice that these remotes are once again designed for the Custom Installation Dealer market.

I just went to the CES web, and this is the entire description of the MX-800:

"IR and RF remote control system. Designed for the Custom Installation dealer market. Very powerful total system control. GemStone button design. Fast and easy programming using the MX Editor software program."

So, what do you think the answer to my question above was? hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm????

I believe that the MX-800 is a more expensive version of the MX-700 with added RF capabilities. Much like an RF Extender.

Gee Greg, I dunno. Could it be . . . RF capability? ;-)

Will the button layout of the MX-800 match that of the MX-700? Or will we see the return of the Chapter Skip keys of the MX-500?

I would venture an educated guess that the MX-800 will look exactly like the MX-700 both in form and button layout.

Color may change.

It's the MX-3000 that I'm looking forward to seeing.

This is very interesting in light of the Worthington catalog having had a listing for an MX-800. At the time everyone assumed that it was a typographical error, but could they have had some advance warning?

Well darned. Just when I think I am satisfied with what I have, they decide to listen to our requests and add RF. Off course I'll have to have that. Oh well. My kids will just have to eat crackers for a few weeks. ;-)

Are we to conclude that with the release of these new models, thats it's likely it will be another year before we see any improvements (more memory) with the MX-500? The reason I ask is I'm needing another remote and I have been holding off buying one waiting to see if anything happens with the MX-500. The MX-700 is just too expensive, plus I don't like the fact you don't have the option of programing manually.

As I've said in other posts, you are not likely to see any changes in the MX-500 for a long while. It is selling very well as is.

What do you need "more memory" for on the MX-500? It can hold 520 learned codes, plus its 15 macros.

What else do you see that is "wrong" with the MX-500 that you are waiting to buy an "improved" version?

I have an "ear" with HTM, so it would be nice to have your feedback.

Thanks.

So we're going to have to deal with remotes with model #'s RM-AV3000, TSU-3000,and MX-3000.

I would like to see an MX-600 which has the same button layout as the MX-700 PLUS the two Chapter Skip keys. It should be manually programmable like the MX-500 but with macro capabilities on all keys like the MX-700.

I agree that would be ideal, but if I could just have unlimited fav macros I would be pretty satisfied. Come to think of it though, it sure would be nice if it had faster macros. Sounds like if this was to ever happen, it would be a long time off. I suppose I need to just go ahead and pick up another MX-500 if that's the case.
