I am trying to get a MX-500 to work with my Kenwood KR-V9080 receiver.
I first tried all of the listed codes in the manual -- none worked. I then tried to learn from the Kenwood remote. The MX-500 seemed to learn, but could not control the receiver.
Anyone have any clues?
Thanks!
Bob

Bob, I suspect that your Kenwood is listening for RF signals, not IR. Check your manual - you may need an IR receiver accessory to receive IR commands with that receiver. David www.BlueDo.com

I don't think the receiver is RF. Though, I couldn't find anything in the manual to confirm this.
The Kenwood remote 'acts' like IR -- line-of-sight transmission, etc.
The Kenwood remote is putting out some sort of IR, because the MX-500 learns it?

Bob, Kenwoods are notorious for trouble with IR learning remotes... Do a search for Kenwood in this forum and I think you'll see what I'm talking about. Good luck, let us know! David www.BlueDo.com

Hey Bob,
I know that some of the Kenwood IR codes are actually a higher frequency than most (in the 400 KHz range I believe). I called Universal Remote about this very issue and they told me to use a Xantech part to convert the IR to the higher frequency (don't remember the part number off the top of my head) and this allowed me to use the codes in the IR database. Try e-mailing or calling Universal Remote's technical support for information on what to do to get the codes to work.
Good luck!
Greg.

Hey Bob,
Just looked on Xantech's website. The part is the MS455 455 KHZ IR MODULATOR. It is designed to upconvert 40 KHz signals to 455 KHz. This is supposed to work for B&O and Kenwood.
I would still contact Universal Remotes to see if they have any other possible solutions that won't cost you more money.
Hope this helps.
Greg.
