I haven't had any trouble learning codes with my MX500 until it met the Creative Extigy ([Link: soundblaster.com]). It has the strange behavior that I need to send the learnt code twice from the MX500 to send the complete command as far as the Extigy is concerned - this is 100% reproducible on every code.

Using my Palm to look at the difference in code sequences between the original and learnt codes, it looks like the Extigy remote codes have a long pause in it's burst pair sequence:

...
0005 0005 003C 001E
066D 0055 0005 0032
...

The MX500's burst pair sequence is very short after that, whereas the original code continues on for a while (about 20 pairs) and looks like a repeat of the start of the sequence. This would somewhat explain why I need to send the code twice from the MX500.

Other older universal remotes I have lying around seem to work OK.

Wondering if anyone has run into something like this before and if there's any solution.

Nick.

A long shot - but have you tried learning the codes from one of the other remotes you've taught the codes to?

Also- try pressing the source remote twice when teaching to the MX-500, that may do the trick.

Thanks for the response. I had tried a whole bunch of combinations:

- transferring via intermediate universal remotes
- holding the buttons down for different lengths of time

I guess the issue is really that the MX500 is being too intelligent and detecting this as a repeating code.

Nick.
