I Give Up! What's Best Alternative to MX-1000??

So now it's July? This company's inability to get this product out and/or be honest with their potential customers on the true release date has pushed me to my limit.

Although this remoted appears to be the perfect solution for my needs, I no longer trust this company and have decided to move on.

Let's get a discussion started on the best alternatives to the MX-1000; specifically units that that have that nice combination of touch screen flexibility with enough hard buttons for ease of use.

The RTI Theatermaster seems to be the obvious choice, but it is too expensive. The pronto is very popular, but there are not enough hard buttons for my taste. Is there any other remotes out there that are very similar to the mythical MX-1000?

I'm with you chipster, enough is enough already. I too thought the mx-1000 was going to to be THE remote for me but I guess the name really describes the number of delays befor it will be ready. I think the name is really "many X-tensions 1000". I am now also ready to move, this company has just blown it.

That company is a disgrace. They obiviously do not know how to run a business. Instead of being honest and upfront they continue to go from month to month. Eventually their customers will lose faith in them and their products and hopefully buy elsewhere.

I couldn't agree more - these delays for a much anticipated remote have turned a lot of people off.

Well- I hesitate to say this but, if you are looking for a competent replacement at one-third the cost of the MX-1000, you might want to look at the One-For-All URC 8080, otherwise know as the A/V Producer® 8 Home Theater remote with LED screen and 'Timed Recording' macro. I bought one out of sheer frustration and couldn't be happier for my needs.

The backlight is excellent, the keys are varied shapes to diffentiate between button functions, there is a programable HomeTheater mode which allows you to turn on all componenents, set modes, channels, volume, etc. with one key press, and has not only an extensive library of codes for brands/components, but also a learning feature to program buttons/functions otherwise not covered. Although six buttons per component(48 in total)is a bit "light", this still comes in handy.
There is a lot more to go into, but I don't want to go on and on. If anyone has questions, I've had it for two months (hmmm - March, April, May...sound familiar) and would be glad to expand on my experience with it if you respond to me.

When a new product gets introduced to the market before said product is available, there is always an eagerness to own the product. The fact that there have been delays will always test the patience of potential consumers - but rest assured of one thing: when the MX-1000 becomes available in July, your wait and patience will be well rewarded with an exceptional product.

The MX-1000 was delayed not because of software problems. It wasn't due to technical difficulties in any way. The reason for the delay was because our engineers wanted to produce the MX-1000 in a flawless remote control that will do everything desired and more. A remote control that will live up to its promise and deliver on sheer flexibility and compatability.

July is the last delay in what will be a superior touchscreen remote control.

Geez, seems to me the SAME thing was said back in May when it was delayed until June. Now it's July and again the last delay. Just how gullible do you think the people are?

Bob has put into blunt words what many of us have been discussing and wondering about for some time now. I for one would really appreciate someone at Home Theater Master (HTM) responding directly on this point.

It seems that every time a delay occurs in the anticipated introduction of the MX-1000, we are left wondering what happened for a while, and then an HTM message appears out of the blue, announcing yet again that the MX-1000 has been held back until it is somehow infinitely better than sliced bread -- absolutely beyond perfection and the answer to our dreams. (Rather a tall order for any product, wouldn't you agree?)

Then we saw another HTM announcement a few weeks ago that stated, among other things, that the HTM website is the sole, OFFICIAL source of information regarding the model's rollout. At the same time (and until VERY recently), the HTM site continued to promise delivery in the first quarter of 2000.

Back in the good old (pre-Internet) days, consumers had no easy way of communicating amongst each other to comment on products and speculate on improvements to be incorporated into future product lines. Lately, however, we here may be like the proverbial cart pulling the horse in our impatience to see the new unit. I really don't believe that anyone posting comments at this site would want HTM to release the MX-1000 before it was ready for our educated, discerning fingertips.

Mr. Gifford (and all at HTM), we do like your company, we do like your products, and we certainly do like the thought of getting our sweaty little hands on the MX-1000. It goes without saying (thought I'll say it anyway) that HTM as a manufacturer does not 'owe' anything to us in terms of specific information about a model that has yet to appear on the market. Nor need you respond to every nasty jab that appears in someone's remarks, here or elsewhere. For that matter, out of the entire target market the MX-1000 is aimed to, the relatively few of us here who are sufficiently interested in it to spend time discussing it and wishing for it would likely not make much of a dent in total sales of the unit.

Be that as it may, what we as individuals very much appreciate is the courtesy and good business sense of a manufacturer and its representatives to provide us, to the extent possible, with a realistic, fairly firm release date for the MX-1000. I'm not asking for confidential business strategies here, just a response to a reasonable, collective request from many loyal, existing and potential customers.

"Just my $.02 worth." :^)

Check this out:

It looks like a nice alternative to the MX-1000.

I've been trying to find one online, but haven't been able to yet.

That looks like a great remote, although the display doesn't get my juices flowing, but I would like to check it out. Thanks Ian.

As much as I hate to admit I still haven't given up on the mx-1000. www.onecall.com has the release date as being July 20th. I waited this long, so I can wait another month. I just can't find anything else that looks this good for the money.

They've postponed it already? Awww...I was figuring they'd wait until July 15 to postpone the release beyond "early July."

By early July, I'm guessing they mean a July in the early half of the 21st century.

Wow, we really got a lot of venting with this thread (I was one of the biggest!), but unfortunately only got a few good suggestions on capable alternatives. Since Home Theater Master seems right on track for delaying the release date yet again, does anyone have anymore good suggestions for similar remotes?
