According to the Mike Gifford at universalremote.com (the manufacturer), The software is "not designed to work with anything later than Windows 98." The support from Mike, in general, was unprofessional. If you need help with your MX-1000, don't count on the manufacturer.

I am using Windows ME with decent success. Sometimes the upload fails and it can take 4 to 5 attempts to get it to work. No problems with system crashes so far.
I found Mike to be very helpful.

Dominic: Mike is almost always - if not always - professional in his service. Don't say that the entire company's service for the MX-1000 is unprofessional due to one phone call.
Mike is well-known in these parts for his great service.
But, he has to deal with a program - MX Designer - that has a number of bugs in it, which he cannot do anything about.
Cut him some slack, please!
