Am I missing something here? I have read and searched this forum, hoping that I was wrong about this, so correct me if I am.
Does the MX-500 not accept advanced codes?
I currently use the much less expensive RS 15-1994, and it DOES accept those codes. So why would a person spend more for the MX-500?
On a side question, am I correct that (like every other remote in the free world) this remote does not include the soundfields for the Sony DB or ES models?
I'm not trying to start flames here. Really. The MX-500 is a good looking remote that I was interested in. I just have a hard time understanding why a person would spend more for a remote that does not have a basic capability that is included on the RS and Cinema 7 remotes.
Any help is appreciated. Tom

No, you're right, the MX-500 does not accept advanced codes. As far as why should you buy one over an OFA remote, that depends on what devices you have to control and what level of customization you're looking for.
Some of the advantages of the MX-500 are:
1. Learning to any and all buttons (with a few exceptions) without running out of memory. 2. Labeling each button (through the LCD labels) with its exact function. 3. Much more macro capability.
There are others as well, but if they're not important to you and you use JP1, you can have an OFA remote that will get you pretty close at a lower price. It depends on your preferences and budget.
