I posted this thread in the Universal Remote forum, in a last attempt to find a very simple 2-device remote with just channel, volume and transport buttons, and with either learning or key mover capabilities. URC had the "Little Easy" and similar remotes, but don't know where I can still get those. Anyway, seems to me I can use the MX-200 Sidekick remote for my kids. I'll program the Power On and volume buttons for the TV, the Power Off for Eject, and A, B and C for REW, FF and STOP/PLAY. Stick a few labels on there with a label maker, and voila. Kid remote.

Arjen, use the kid assumption to justify with your wife the reason you need the MX-700!
My MX-200 is presently being tested as a kids remote at my neighbor's home for use with their grandkids. The kids love it because it is their own remote and it fits their hands perfectly. However, it is only used for channel surfing and the A B C buttons are used for Toon, Disney and Nickolodean shortcuts.

I hadn't thought of that, but the MX-200 is a great remote for the kids! And when they break it ("if" isn't a possibility, right dads?):
A) You haven't lost your MX-700 :) B) You can easily reprogram the replacement you may purchase!

I give my kids the WeeMote 2. Its made for kids, each colored key is programmed to their favorite channel. I got it for $24. When they click the power on, it takes them automatically to Cartoon Network.

I'll also state the obvious...
Don't forget that the MX-200 supports LARGE macros. If you need/want the kids or spouse to watch TV (or listen to the radio, etc.) it can power up, power down and channel surf (and, if programmed creatively, a little more) very complex Home Theaters.
The Weemote is absolutely perfect for a simple TV setup(and once the MX-200 is available separately, probably cheaper.) But the MX-200 can do so much more...

Over the weekend, during our "Tyson" party, I thought of another good use for the MX-200- kitchen remote!
I, like a lot of people I presume, can see my TV from the kitchen, and during get-togethers, we spend a lot of time hanging around the kitchen counter. The MX-200 did great as a little kitchen remote, there to backup the Tivo during good moments, and mute when the phone rang!

Exactly what I use mine for as well, Randy. Plus you don't have to worry about someone spilling something over your $400 MX-700. :-)
(Don't you mean your "Lewis" party?) ;-)
