I just started programming my MX-700 last night, and so far I'm just trying to get things started with the devices in the IR database. Although none of the Tivo codes work on our Tivos, but that's another story...I think we'll have to do those by hand. :)

Anyway, we have a Sony KP-43T70 TV...43" normal tabletop projection. The "Generic" codes work for most things, as do several of the [Sony Code X] ones, but none of them are quite right. We settled on using the "Generic" code as this seemed to match our TV the closest, although some buttons need to be removed, like it has buttons for Video 1-6 and we only have 1-3 on our TV.

The problem is we can't seem to get it to switch to the TV coax input. Video 1, 2, and 3 all work fine, but whatever button is supposed to go to the coax isn't working if it's even there (I thought it was the TUNER button but that didn't work). How can I program it to go to this input? The button on the remote is a cycling type button, so I don't think it's going to work to learn it from the remote.

If you are on one of your video inputs, and change the channel (to ch 3 or something), will the tv change to the coax input? If so, just write a macro to change to whatever channel number you desire.

BTW, I have my TiVos all programmed in, but just have to make sure all the buttons are learned correctly (I have caught one or two that are difficult to learn: the #3 button on the TiVo #1 remote code took me about 8 tries before it finally learned correctly.) I will have Philips standalone TiVo codes 0,1 & 2 up shortly.

Miranda,

Any of the newer Sony TVs should have a discrete code for switching to coax input. If your original remote does not have a dedicated input button for coax/tuner, then another possibility would be to use a Cinema 7 to find the correct discrete code, and teach it to your MX-700.

Philosophy -- Thanks, I didn't think of doing that. When I go back to programming tonight, I will try that and see if it works. Can't wait to download your Philips standalone, as one of ours is on IR code either 1 or 2, I forget which. We can't use the default setup from the MX-700 as it is the 0 code, and we are borrowing someone's Philips standalone to catch up on Farscape, so it ends up controlling both. :)

Arjen -- Unfortunately, the original remote doesn't have a dedicated button for any of the inputs, just a "Display" button that cycles through all 4. The TV is only 2 years old though so I'm sure there must be a code for it. I was pretty disappointed in the amount of choices for devices in the IR database, it seems like at least for Sony TVs there weren't many to pick from. Anyway, we do not have access to a Cinema 7, so I will have to try Philosophy's suggestion. Maybe too if I can find a Pronto CCF with the correct discrete code I could use that, we have 2 unused Pronto TSU2000's lying around the house.

TWO unused TSU2000's? Sheesh!:-)

But yep, that would do the trick.
